Welcome to the homepage of the Marblehead International One Design Class!

From May through September, fourteen boats (each carrying a crew of 4-5), will compete in almost 40 races in Marblehead, MA. This summer we will be competing to determine representatives for upcoming regional, continental, international and World Championship regattas.

The International Class sloop was designed to be pleasing to the eye and addictive to the heart, and our fleet is a fun-loving community of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who share a love of the class and the competition.

Designed in 1936, Internationals have raced continuously in Marblehead since 1938. The boat is long and narrow, with beautiful lines and traditional overhangs. The Class' strong one-design commitment -- sails, hulls, masts, booms, rig geometry, etc, are virtually identical between boats -- keep costs of ownership low and makes racing extremely competitive. The tall, powerful sail plan is perfectly balanced by a full displacement keel, so the boat is a delight to race and day sail.

The International Class is active in Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Bermuda, Northeast Harbor, Marblehead, Nantucket, Fishers Island, Larchmont, and San Francisco.

2011 marks the 75th Anniversary of the International Class. To celebrate this exciting occasion, the Marblehead fleet will be hosting the 75th Anniversary Jubilee. The Jubilee consists of two regattas, the New England Challenge and the 2011 World Championships, both of which will be held in June. For more information, see www.iodworlds.com.
